Christine brings a unique blend of qualities that make her a perfect fit for promoting agricultural education and sharing a passion for Arizona agriculture with your students. Her husband, Charlie, is the Chief Operating Officer for Rousseau Farming Company – a local produce farm, she is raising four daughters – Aubrey, Alyssa, Caylee and Averie, and is a former agriculture and biology teacher. With this broad experience in agriculture, children and education, Christine has created a seamless school tour process. She creates the curriculum and lesson plans, communicates with teachers, welcomes classes to the farm, and oversees the tours to ensure every Farm Fresh Field Trip is a great experience for teachers and educational – yet fun – for students. Interested in a school tour? Contact her at education(at)rocker7(dot)com. She would love to meet your class on the farm!
Alison brings her years of kitchen expertise from work and home to the farm, where she is helping to oversee menu planning and purchasing, and serve farm guests after they work up an appetite enjoying Farm Fresh Family Fun at our weekend festival. She will ensure we are serving tasty, safe foods and treats, keep the kitchen stocked, and help everyone on our team make a perfect shaved ice to cool down farm guests!
Susie first began helping as a student worker on the farm in 2014, and has gradually “stepped up” her role at the farm each year. This year, she is taking on a leadership role, overseeing our pumpkin and mercantile sales areas. She will be involved in display decisions, staff training and ensuring your pumpkin purchase process runs smoothly!
Emma has experience all over the farm. This year, she will mainly be splitting her time between driving our popular barrel train for kids and assisting with pumpkin and admission sales.
You could say he has grown up on the farm – Josiah was still in elementary school when he first began volunteering, helping our guests haul their pumpkin wagons from the patch to their vehicles.
Garhett is another student who has “grown up” with us. This year, he will be assisting with the barrel train and sales areas, and probably helping with some of the “heavy lifting” around the farm, as well as offering a friendly face to guests.
BRANDON AND KATIE LEISTER
OWNERS AND FOUNDERS
Brandon met Katie in Texas, and convinced her to join him in his lifelong dream of building a business in production agriculture. It worked, and they harvested their first wheat crop on Rocker 7 Farms the same month they were married, in June 2008.
Since then, they have enjoyed nine successful years of farming and family in the Valley of the Sun. For years, they dreamed of opening up their farm to welcome the community for a fun, family farm experience, where they were educated as much as they were entertained. Rocker 7 Farm Patch was that dream come to life when the gates first opened in Fall 2014.
Brandon’s family roots run deep in Arizona agriculture, in both crop and livestock production. Katie’s have just been planted, but she wouldn’t trade the experience of raising a farm family. Brandon’s role at the Farm Patch will be overseeing the actual crop production of the pumpkins you will pick, the maze you will navigate, and the sunflower field. Katie will be involved in the behind-the-scenes operations of setting up a new business and making sure everyone knows to visit us at the Farm Patch this fall.
When Rocker 7 Farms and Rocker 7 Farm Patch are running smoothly, Brandon and Katie spend every spare minute with their children, Leyton and Bowen, who are fifth generation Arizona agriculturists. They also both enjoy the great Arizona outdoors and spend hunting season in search of big coues whitetail deer and fishing season waiting for a large bass to catch their line.
Rocker 7 Farm Patch is truly a family operation that has been years in the making, and we are beyond excited to finally share it with other families to help them create a memorable farm experience!
