Meet the Intern: Madeline Alewine

To best serve the needs of the farm and the students participating, the Rocker 7 Farm Patch internships were split into three distinct positions this year. We are pleased to introduce our Fall 2015 agribusiness marketing intern, Madeline (Mattie) Alewine.

Mattie Alewine, Marketing InternMattie is a senior at AAEC Estrella Mountain, and says she “absolutely loves agriculture.”

“I have always had an interest in agriculture and it has been a major part of my life ever since I was a little girl,” Mattie said. Some of her agricultural adventures began at age six, when she accompanied her father to work at a wholesale nursery operation, where she drove around with him on CAT tractors. During these outings, her father also helped her learn all the plants and how to care for them.

But, Mattie found growing up she didn’t have the same passion for the operations side of agribusiness. She has been active in first 4-H, and then FFA during her childhood, and currently shows and competes with her American Quarter horses across the country.

It was this endeavor that led Mattie to her interest in marketing. “When it came time for me to reach out to college coaches to ride on the equestrian teams, I thought it would be easier for there to be one spot to find my information, progress, and videos. So I created a website,” she said. “I discovered that I really enjoy copywriting and knew that marketing would be the field that I would go into in college.”

With a strong interest area and future career plans in agribusiness marketing, the Rocker 7 Farm Patch marketing internship seemed a perfect fit for Mattie to gain some experience.

“During this internship, I hope to gain valuable resources and great techniques that will help me in my future career,” she said. “I am excited to be a part of this farm patch and eager to learn as much as I can throughout this experience.

We’re excited to have you as well, Mattie, and look forward to working with you to help tell the Rocker 7 Farm Patch story and promote this year’s fall festival to create agricultural awareness within the community.

Welcome to the team, Mattie!
