Meet the Intern: Victoria Okula

Following a successful internship program our inaugural year, we expanded it a bit this year. We offered three different internship roles, each with distinct requirements and responsibilities for the upcoming season.

The Agricultural Education Internship was designed to help a student interested in pursuing further education or a career in agricultural education to gain experience in lesson plan preparation, curriculum development, and working with educators. Our farm field trips and school tours are key components of our mission to create agricultural awareness within our community, and we are excited to offer this position to further our reach with our school tours and help a student gain valuable, real-world experience.

VickyOkula_EducationIntern-300x189We are pleased to introduce Victoria (Vicky) Okula, our Agricultural Education Intern for the 2015 fall season.

Vicky is entering her senior year at Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center – Estrella Mountain.

“Ag education is my passion, and I am happy to have this opportunity to help teach those around me,” she said.

She has been involved in her school’s FFA chapter for three years, and will serve as this year’s Chapter President. After winning the state Prepared Public Speaking contest in 2014, she traveled to Kentucky to compete at the National FFA Convention.

Vicky’s family is originally from Poland, and she has enjoyed all the opportunities her school and  FFA involvement have offered to gain an understanding and appreciation of American agriculture. Next fall, she plans to enroll at the University of Arizona to pursue a career in agricultural education to share her passion for the industry with future generations.

We are happy to have Vicky on board, and look forward to an exciting fall season of farm field trips and school tours, offering learning experiences for us all!
