2015 Fall Farm Internships

Nicole Piech, 2014 Rocker 7 Farm Patch intern

Nicole Piech, 2014 Rocker 7 Farm Patch intern

Last year, we were taken a bit by surprise when Millennium FFA Advisor Keri Gage contacted us and requested an internship for one of her students, senior Nicole Piech.

We previously hadn’t considered the idea for our inaugural season, but we had a great year with Nicole, even as we fumbled through her role on the farm in our first year. She was a tremendous asset to the farm and contributed greatly to our readiness to open the gates last fall.

This year, with some experience under our belts and more thought placed into the process beforehand, we are ready to open up three separate internships with Rocker 7 Farm Patch for the 2015 fall season.

All three internships will be open to current agriculture students, either high school seniors or LOCAL college freshmen, interested in three key agricultural career fields related to agritourism and the mission of Rocker 7 Farm Patch.

All three students must be able to commit an average of 10 hours per week (some weeks will be considerably less, some a bit more as we near opening) to working with Rocker 7 Farm Patch, beginning August 1st and ending near November 15th, after Rocker 7 Farm Patch is closed for the fall season. Transportation to/from the work location will not be provided. This is an unpaid internship, but Rocker 7 Farm Patch is more than willing to work with any educational programs that may offer course credit for the internship. We are all believers in education outside the classroom, and will provide any necessary documentation to help any intern receive class credit.

What are the three internship positions?

One of our favorite things about Rocker 7 Farm Patch has been the tremendous opportunity it has allowed to work with local youth. We are excited for this new opportunity to provide valuable experience to a few local youth, while promoting varying careers in the agricultural field.

Again, this is an unpaid internship, open to high school seniors or local college freshmen studying agriculture or with prior agriculture coursework, requiring an average of 10 hours per week, lasting roughly August 1st-November 15th.
